Made for Two Rivals

Made for Two Rivals

When Lieutenant Velvet Meadows loses most of her Spaceforce comrades during an
enemy attack, part of her withdraws to protect her heart from future loss. Because
she's an Adept—a race that can adapt to changes in their environment—she does a
damn efficient job of it. Velvet’s emotions are in lockdown.

It doesn’t help when Lieutenant Graham Hamm comes to Velvet’s room on Earth Base
Ten, determined to humble the proud little hellcat in front of his friends. But when Gray
falls hard for the beautiful and vulnerable Adept, he ends up hurting no one more than
himself. Now Velvet has her shields up where Gray is concerned. Only through her
trust for another man will her heart, emotions and her love be resurrected.
Unfortunately for Gray, that “other man” just happens to be his longtime rival,
Lieutenant Jed Castille.

Together the trio embarks upon a dangerous mission to eliminate a powerful
Spaceforce enemy, while the two rivals pit their desires against Velvet’s resistance. By
the time victory is theirs, the three officers will have made an unlikely alliance—in the
bedroom—and in love.

Gray was tired of their flirting. Finishing off his energy bar, he punched a series of
commands into the controls over his head.

“What are you doing?” Jed challenged him.

“Setting a course for Delta Base Twenty,” Gray answered.

Jed’s eyes narrowed in thought. “What are you planning?”

“There’s a Tauran teahouse on the base.”

Velvet’s brow wrinkled up into a questioning frown while Jed snorted out a soft bark of
laughter. “Don’t stop now,” he drawled. “I wanna hear the rest of this.”

“I’m tired of waiting for the Grundians to find us. I say we give them a hand.”

Jed’s gaze slipped to Velvet. “Are you sure you want to do that? Command said—”

“Screw Command. I’m making a command decision. Jason and Match are tracking us.”

“But the Taurans are neutral,” Velvet interjected.

“That’s what they’d like you to believe,” Gray grunted. “They might not be allied with the
Grundians but that hasn’t stopped them from supplying our enemy with everything from
popcorn to polyrounds.”

Jed sneered as he waved his peppercorn steak in the air for emphasis. “So you’re gonna
take Velvet into a teahouse full of Tauran males. You
do know that Taurans have tusks
on their dicks?”

“They won’t touch her if I mark her first.”

“Mark me?” Velvet spoke up, her eyes narrowing with suspicion. “What do you mean,
mark me?”

The cabin was silent as Gray hit the enter button.

She targeted the Cajun with her gaze. “What does he mean, mark me?” she demanded.

The Cajun just shook his head, a dissatisfied expression twisting his hard lips.

Releasing the seat’s restraints, Gray launched himself away from the chair and through
the air toward the hatchway opening. On the way, he reached out and snagged the end
of Velvet’s long braid. She cursed with surprise as she wriggled in the air. With one hand
on the hatch opening, Gray towed her toward Jed’s pod.

“I’m going to sleep,” he informed her, “and you’re sleeping with me.”

She stopped squirming and turned her head around to glare at him. “You’re nuts if you
think I’m going to sleep with you, you jumped-up space Neanderthal.”

Gray shook his head. “I’m in command of this operation and, as your CO, I’m ordering
you to sleep at the same time I do. I’m not leaving you alone with the Cajun,” he added
with a growl. “He has a bad reputation.”

Jed whistled out a long trilling note. “Good idea,” he sang with cynicism. “Save her for the
Taurans.”

“He has a bad reputation!” Velvet exclaimed. “What the hell do you have?”

Gray smirked as he trawled her along behind him. “You’ve already seen what I have. He
has the reputation. I have the hammer.”
