Made for Two Men

Made for Two Men

“It’s not as though it’s unheard of. There are plenty of…of multi-relationships. Some of
them even work,” he argued. “I’ve an uncle who has two wives. They’re happy!”

“Yeah, well it wouldn’t work for me.”

“Why not?”

“Because I don’t feel that way about her!” Danjer exploded. His brilliant eyes were wild,
his breathing uneven as he stared at Saxon. “Because I’m an Earther!” he shouted,
jabbing a thumb into his chest. “Earthers don’t share their women.”

“Never?”

“Not if they…care about them,” Danjer ground out through clenched teeth.

“Not if they love them?” Saxon asked quietly but Danjer didn’t answer. “What happens
when two friends love the same woman?”

“Then,” Danjer grunted, averting his gaze, “they’re not friends anymore.”

“What?” Saxon asked with quiet panic. “What?”

“You heard me.”

“Yeah, I heard you. I just don’t believe you. Are Earthers really that fucked up?”

Danjer owes Saxon his life. He'd do anything for his best friend, but Pink’s love seems
like a high price to pay. With three hearts on the line, Saxon and Pink must convince
Danjer that the lovely imp from the planet eYona not only desires both men—she's
made for them.

“What’s wrong?” he queried.

“Nothing,” Danjer bit off in a quiet word, taking another long sip of the scalding brew,
welcoming the burn as it traveled his tight throat.

“You look about as happy as I feel.”

Holding his breath, Danjer tilted his head and gave Saxon a questioning look.

“She wouldn’t have me…last night.”

Expelling the breath lodged in his lungs, Danjer grabbed at the counter behind him,
steadying himself with one hand before taking another sip of char. “I thought you spent the
night with her.”

Saxon shook his head. “I spent the night in the room across the hall from yours.” The
blond’s expression was a bit hopeless as he shook his head. “I don’t know what went
wrong. After what happened at the river yesterday, I thought I was in!”

Running both hands through the tangled silk of his hair, Saxon grimaced and said in a
hard rush, “I’m crazy about her. I—I wish I could tell her. But…” He broke off, swallowing as
his hands fisted on the dark surface of the table, “You know how I am with words…ever
since D’Almiers.”

Danjer looked at the ground, nodding his head as he was swamped to his knees in soul-
strafing, crushing, debilitating remorse. When he blinked at the lines on the styrowood
floor, he could see Saxon. Saxon lying white and unconscious on the sandy ground, his
blood terrifyingly dark, welling up through the ragged split in his helm.

Saxon had saved his life when he’d taken that blow for Danjer. His friend had lived but had
been disoriented ever since. Previously sharp and self-assured, the easygoing warrior
now got turned around easily. And in a world with few roads to point the way, a sense of
direction was almost a necessity. In addition to the disorientation Saxon suffered, he also
had trouble expressing himself.

Saxon had sacrificed all this for him.

For a long time, Danjer stared at the floor, unwilling to meet Saxon’s gaze.

There was a patter of light feet on the stairs and both men lifted their heads. Danjer
watched his friend’s gaze fix on the stairs beyond the wide double entry of the dining hall.

“Here she comes,” Saxon muttered. His eyes swung back to Danjer’s. “I need to tell her,”
he blurted suddenly. “Will you help me?”

Danjer turned his face with a grimace of reluctance. “I’ll do my best,” he told Saxon with
grating determination. This wasn’t going to be easy. Reaching for a cup and filling it with
the steaming brew, he forced a smile onto his face. “Don’t get mad at me if she takes it the
wrong way,” he grumbled with a taunting growl. Crossing the room to the table, he pulled
out a chair for Pink as she entered, placing the char before her as she sat.

She looked both fresh and winsomely wild, dressed in a short off-white stretchy top that
hugged her breasts and left her midriff bare. On her hips hung a pair of The Lady’s soft
suede leggings. As Pink was slimmer than Chloe, the pants slouched low on her hips,
displaying the jewel which twinkled in her belly button.

“Pink,” Saxon started immediately. “I need to tell you something. It’s…important.”

Her eyes traveled cautiously between the two men as she pulled her chair underneath her
and Danjer returned to his post by the char generator.

“It’s about you and me. And how I feel about you. I want to…” helplessly, he looked to his
friend standing against the counter.

“Fuck you,” Danjer supplied.

“No!”

“Lay you?” was his next suggestion.

“No!” Saxon glared at his friend and Danjer relented with a wry smile.

“Make love to you.”

“Yes!” Saxon almost shouted. “I want to make love to you, Pink. Ever since I met you, I've
wanted you. You’re all I can think of. I’ve never been so…attracted to a woman. You're
so…”

“Beautiful,” Danjer said quietly.

“Yes,” Saxon agreed. “And more than that, you’re…”

“The loveliest creature I’ve ever set eyes on.”

Saxon nodded as he stared at the imp imploringly.

“You’re warm and considerate and kind and brave. When you’re near,” Danjer continued,
“it’s all I can do to keep my hands off you. It’s all I can do to breathe,” he whispered.
“When you laugh, I want it to last forever.”

Saxon frowned as his gaze swung up to his friend’s face.

“I want to be the man who makes you laugh, who touches you and makes love to you. I
want to be the man who wakes up next to you, every day for the rest of my life. I want you
in my bed. In my home. In my world. I want you in my life. For as long as I live.”

“Damn,” Saxon whispered. There was an awkward silence as Saxon stared at Danjer while
Danjer gazed across the room at Pink. Pink’s eyes remained downcast, fixed on her
steaming cup, her lips caught between her teeth.

Abruptly, Danjer shook himself. “Is that what you meant to say?” he asked Saxon without
looking at him.

“Yeah,” Saxon returned quietly. “Yeah…that pretty much covers it.”
